District 23 is run by a dedicated team of volunteers who serve to ensure that AA remains accessible and effective in supporting those seeking recovery. Our team works tirelessly to support local groups, organize meetings, and connect members with important AA resources. Here are some of the key roles on the District 23 volunteer team. District Committee Member (DCM/ALT DCM):
ROLE CURRENTLY FILLED
The DCM serves as the leader of the district committee and acts as a vital link between the group G.S.R.s (Group Service Representatives) and the AA Area Delegate. This role helps ensure that the voice of every group is heard and that important information from the General Service Conference reaches our district. The Alternate DCM steps in when the DCM is unavailable and assists in leading the district, ensuring continuity of service.
Responsibilities:
Attend monthly District 23 Business Meetings.
Lead group inventories and foster group discussions.
Attend Area 58 assemblies regularly.
Provide support to GSRs within District 23.
Secretary:
ROLE CURRENTLY FILLED
The secretary is responsible for keeping accurate minutes of district meetings, distributing those notes to all G.S.R.s, and ensuring clear communication across the district.
Responsibilities:
Attend monthly District 23 Business Meetings.
Record minutes of the District 23 GSR Business meeting.
Distribute minutes to GSRs and district officers for review.
Maintain accurate and organized records of meetings.
Treasurer:
ROLE CURRENTLY FILLED
Our treasurer manages the district’s finances, ensuring that contributions are allocated to support AA activities and services within the district.
Responsibilities:
Attend the monthly District 23 Business Meeting.
Collect donations from groups within the district.
Make payments for authorized district expenses.
Maintain and balance the district's checking account monthly, ensuring accuracy.
Provide a detailed monthly financial report at District 23 Business Meetings.
Track the district’s budget, ensuring funds are allocated properly.
Monitor the district's PO Box for incoming statements and other financial documents.
GrapeVine Rep (GVR):
ROLE CURRENTLY FILLED
The Grapevine Representative serves as the ambassador for the AA Grapevine, our meeting in print. The GVR helps keep members informed about new Grapevine stories, books, and other resources that can support their recovery journey. They also promote subscriptions and encourage members to contribute their own experiences to the Grapevine.
Responsibilities:
Attend the monthly District 23 Business Meeting.
Serve as the contact between home group GVRs and the Grapevine Office.
Promote the Grapevine and encourage home group participation.
Group Service Reps (G.S.R.s):
ROLE CURRENTLY FILLED for RAM, RAW, SUNRISE (More TBD)
G.S.R.s represent their individual AA groups within District 23. They attend district meetings and report back to their groups with important updates, ensuring the group’s conscience is carried to the wider AA service structure.
Responsibilities:
Attend the monthly District 23 Business Meeting.
Share updates from the district and Area 58 with their home group.
Carry their home group’s voice and decisions to district meetings.
Participate in district discussions and votes on behalf of their group.
Report back to their group with district and area event information and resources.
Stay informed about General Service Office (GSO) activities and Oregon Area 58 news.
Intergroup/WCO Representative:
ROLE CURRENTLY FILLED
The Intergroup/WCO Representative connects District 23 with Intergroup and Western Central Oregon (WCO) AA activities. This role involves attending meetings and bringing valuable updates back to District 23.
Responsibilities:
Attend monthly District 23 Business Meetings.
Present notes and announcements from the previous Intergroup/WCO Business Meeting.
Relay information on upcoming events and opportunities.
Archivist:
OPEN POSITION
The Archivist preserves the district’s history by storing all physical records of business meetings and district events. They ensure that records are properly transferred when the role changes hands.
Responsibilities:
Attend monthly District 23 Business Meetings.
Store physical records of District 23 Business Meeting minutes.
Maintain records of district events.
Transfer records to the next Archivist when needed.
Activities Chair:
OPEN POSITION
The Activities Chair organizes district-sponsored events that promote unity and provide education on AA principles. This role is vital for planning events like workshops or social gatherings.
Responsibilities:
Attend monthly District 23 Business Meetings.
Propose event ideas to GSRs for approval.
Organize quarterly district events such as workshops and social gatherings.
Work within the activities budget and coordinate volunteers and facilities.
Website Chair:

The Website Chair ensures that District 23’s online presence is up-to-date and accessible, providing important information for members and newcomers alike.
Responsibilities:
Attend monthly District 23 Business Meetings.
Manage and update the district website.
Ensure meeting schedules, event info, and other resources are current.
Troubleshoot website issues as they arise.
Public Information (PI) Chair:
OPEN POSITION
The PI Chair works to raise awareness about AA within the broader community, including schools and media. They help ensure AA’s message reaches those who need it most.
Responsibilities:
Attend monthly District 23 Business Meetings.
Make presentations at local schools, such as Wilsonville High and Rosemont Ridge Middle School.
Coordinate public service announcements on radio stations and in newspapers.
Cooperation with the Professional Community (CPC) Chair:
OPEN POSITION
The CPC Chair works with professionals like medical students and VA hospital staff to educate them about AA and facilitate bringing meetings to professional settings.
Responsibilities:
Attend monthly District 23 Business Meetings.
Organize AA meetings at the VA hospital.
Make presentations to OHSU medical students and VA hospital staff.
Work with local professionals to spread awareness of AA.
Literature Chair:
OPEN POSITION
The Literature Chair ensures that AA literature is available to groups at cost, promoting awareness and accessibility of important AA resources.
Responsibilities:
Attend monthly District 23 Business Meetings.
Coordinate the sale and distribution of AA literature.
Ensure that groups have access to essential books and pamphlets.
Provide literature updates at district meetings.
